*Update: We reached our goal on October 31st. Thank you for your generous support. We are leaving this fundraiser open for the rest of 2021 as we want everybody to have the opportunity to own a piece of the new roof. And, there is some uncertainty of how much electrician work will be necessary once the new roof is installed. Your support of the boathouse is greatly appreciated.

In August 2021 severe winds tore the fabric of more than half of the Boathouse roof off of its supports, leaving all of our boats, equipment, and electrical systems exposed to the elements. Luckily, no one was hurt during this event and our fleets incurred no major damage.

After considering the different options and costs, the ACBA board voted to replace the roof fabric for the the entire boathouse. We do not want to have one section of roof that is new and one section that is 11 years old and prone to further damage. The board also voted to install Clearspan’s new “elite” fabric for the roof, which is thicker and of higher quality than the “standard” fabric currently in place. This strategic choice will help to ensure a prolonged life for the entire roof over the coming years. The cost for the roof replacement, along with the electrical upgrades is $145,000. Luckily, our insurance policy will cover $65,000, leaving us with the need to raise $80,000 to finish the project and stay within our 2021 Budget.
